Lentil Curry Soup

This one pot LENTIL CURRY SOUP recipe is perfect for those lazy Saturday evenings.  Nothing is easier than throwing all ingredients into one pot, set the timer and just relax.  


  • 1 cup yellow mung daal (washed)
  • 3 cup water
  • 1/2 organic ground tumeric
  • 1/2 tsp whole fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp whole cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp brown mustard seeds
  • 1-2 whole dried chilies (to taste)
  • 1/4 salt (to taste)

*For the most aromatic flavour, grind spices whole spice fresh. For convenience, fennels seeds and cumin seeds are available ground.*


  1. In a large sauce pan, combine 1 cup of yellow mung daal, 3 cups of water and 1/4 tsp of salt. 
  2. In a coffee grinder (one specific for grinding spices), combine fennel seeds, cumin, and brown seeds and grind to a fine powder.
  3. Add ground spices and turmeric powder to the yellow mung and water.  Bring to boil. Then reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 mins. 
  4. Once lentils are soft, using an electric hand blender, blend soup until smooth.
  5. Serve with hot naan or toast! ENJOY!
